Men's Tennis Complete Day 2 at Penn Invite

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The University of Iowa men's tennis team continued its fall season Saturday with second round action at the Penn Invitational. Junior Jonas Dierckx made the most of his second opportunity going 2-0 in consolation action play.
Dierckx, competing in the Penn Flight Consolation bracket, started his day off with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Brendan Ruddock of Minnesota. Dierckx carried that momentum into his next match, defeating Damien David of Buffalo, 6-2, 6-3. Dierckx will face Benjamin Gilman of Lehigh in the consolation championship match on Sunday.
Both Andres Estenssoro and Joey White went 1-1 on the day. Estenssoro started with a 3-6, 6-4, 10-8 victory over Nicolas Paul of Temple, but fell in his second match to Sylvester Wee of Penn, 6-3, 6-4. White started off strong defeating Andrew Krentz of Lehigh 6-4, 4-6, 10-3, but fell in his second match to Florian Van Kann of Binghamton, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
Hawkeyes Garret Dunn, Chase Tomlins, and Dominic Patrick fell in their respective singles matches on Saturday. Tomlins and Patrick also fell in their doubles match to De Alwiss and Lahlou of Penn, 8-4.
Final day competition will begin Sunday with an 8 a.m. (CT) start.
