The University of Iowa men's tennis team continues its fall season at the ITA Regionals in Minneapolis, Minn. Friday through Sunday. The Hawkeyes will send student-athletes Jonas Dierckx, Matt Hagan, and Garret Dunn to compete in the singles main draw. Dunn and Michael Swank will compete in the doubles main draw in addition to Dierckx and Hagan. Dunn and Swank are currently tied for 55th in doubles rankings according to ITA Tennis.
LAST TIME OUT
The Hawkeyes traveled to Phildelphia and competed in the first-ever Penn Invitational. Iowa saw the most success from Jonas Dierckx who claimed the Penn Flight consolation title. Additionally, both Andres Estenssoro and Joey White went 2-1 in singles play in Philadelphia. Additionally Dominic Patrick and Chase Tomlins went 2-1 paird together in doubles play.
DIERCKX EARNS PENN FLIGHT CONSOLATION TITLE
After falling in his first singles match, Jonas Dierckx made the most of his second opportunity rattling off three-straight victories to claim the Penn Flight Consolation Title. Dierckx first defeated Brendan Ruddock of Minnesota, 6-0, 6-3. In the second round Dierckx took down Damien David of Buffalo, 3-6, 6-3, 10-3 to advance to the finals where he faced Benjamin Gilman of Lehigh. Dierckx fell down early, losing his first set 3-6, but rebounded nicely and won the final two sets 6-2, 6-0 to claim the victory. The win improved Dierckx overall singles record to 4-2 which is tied with Joey White for the team lead.
DUNN, SWANK FALL IN ITA EVENT
Student-athletes Garret Dunn and Michael Swank fell in their doubles match at the ITA Men's All-American Championship qualifying round in Tulsa, Okla. Dunn and Swank dropped an 8-4 decision to Brett Clark and William Parker from North Carolina.

Steve Houghton, the dean of Big Ten tennis coaches, is in his 32nd year as head coach of the Hawkeyes. He has compiled a career record of 332-363 (.478), recording the most wins of any coach in Iowa men's tennis history.
