Hawkeyes Compete At LSU Relays
March 24, 2007 BATON ROUGE, LA - Members of the University of Iowa men's track team competed at the LSU Relays Friday and Saturday in Baton Rouge, LA. The Hawkeyes posted two second-place finishes and three collegiate-best marks at the meet.Freshmen Ray Varner and Adam Hairston recorded the runner-up finishes and two of the three collegiate bests. Varner placed second in the 400-meter hurdles (52.73) in a photo-finish. He won the prelims in that event with a collegiate-best 52.69. Hairston placed second in the 1,500-meters with a collegiate-best 3:58.97. Senior Lee Elbert posted a collegiate-best 10.95 in the 100-meter prelims. Iowa's next meet will be March 30-31 at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, CA.
