INDIANAPOLIS, IN -

University of Iowa sophomore middle distance runner Adam Hairston has placed third in the 800 meters (1:50.98) at the 2007 Finish Line USA Junior Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis, IN. He narrowly missed qualifying for the Team USA Pan American Junior Athletics Championships roster. The top two placewinners from each event earned spots. If either of the top two placewinners are unable to compete, Hairston would be invited to the event, which is scheduled for July 6-8 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Hairston is a Cedar Rapids, IA, native and the son of former Hawkeye basketball player John Hairston. Adam led the Hawkeyes in the 800 meters during the indoor and outdoor seasons. His collegiate-best time of 1:49.99 in that event ranks fifth in Iowa outdoor history.
