College Career: Four-time all-American (finishing 4th, 2nd, 1st and 2nd)...was 1987 MVP...won 1986 NCAA crown by beating Troy Emerson (George Mason, 16-2), Ralph Harrison (New Mexico, 10-2), Mike Rosman (Northwestern, 16-4), pinning Joey McKenna (Clemson, 4:55) and a revenge win over Adam Cohen (Arizona State, 10-3) in the title match...lost to Cohen 5-4 at the 1986 Northern Open...three-time Big Ten champion after decisioning Terry Manning (Wisconsin, 9-6) for the 1986 crown...sought to become the ninth wrestler in Big Ten history to claim four conference championships (Joe Scarpello, Mike DeAnna, Ed Banach, Barry Davis and Duane Goldman are other Hawkeyes to win four league titles)...won by default of Scott Turner (North Carolina State) at the 1986 East-West all-start meet...won 1986 Northern Open title...runner-up at both Minnesota Quad and Midlands Open in 1986...posted 12-1-1 dual mark with both the loss and draw coming against Tim Krieger (Iowa State)...did an anti-drug message for NCAA in 1986...tied for 4th in career wins (131) at Iowa...national runner-up in 1985, losing NCAA title bout to Eddie Urbano (Arizona State, 4-1)...won Big Ten title as a sophomore decisioning Charles Root (Michigan State, 8-6)...first place finisher at the Minnesota Quad (tied) plus the Northern, UNI and Midlands Opens in 1985...his 40 wins in 1985 is fifth on Hawkeyes' all-time season victory chart...wrestled in the 1985 East-West all-star meet...redshirted in 1984...won his first Big Ten crown (1983) beating Steve Martinez (Minnesota, 8-3)...earned fourth at the NCAA tournament, winning four of six matches...won 11 of his first 13 decisions at Iowa.
