INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA released Thursday the first of three coaches' panel rankings for the 2012-13 wrestling season, and three Hawkeyes are on top of their respective weight classes. Matt McDonough, Tony Ramos and Derek St. John are ranked No. 1, and each of Iowa's 10 starters is ranked among the top 33. The final rankings will be one of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2013 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Thirty-three wrestlers from each weight class advance to the NCAA Championships.

Wrestlers in each weight class will be measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn spots for the 2013 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The coaches' rankings are compiled by a vote of coaches representing each qualifying tournament. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. In order to be eligible for the rankings, wrestlers must have participated in at least five matches against Division I opponents and have wrestled within the last 30 days.

The top-ranked wrestlers at each weight class in the inaugural rankings are: Matt McDonough, University of Iowa (125 pounds); Tony Ramos, Iowa (133 pounds); Kendric Maple, University of Oklahoma (141 pounds); Jordan Oliver, Oklahoma State University (149 pounds); Derek St. John, Iowa (157 pounds); Kyle Dake, Cornell University (165 pounds); Chris Perry, Oklahoma State (174 pounds); Edward Ruth, Penn State University (184 pounds); Dustin Kilgore, Kent State University (197 pounds) and Dominque Bradley, University of Missouri (Heavyweight).

The full rankings of each weight class are available HERE on NCAA.com.
