IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa freshman Jaime Printy scored a game-high 22 points and her 3-point field goal with 8 minutes, 23 seconds left in the game gave the Hawkeyes the lead for good during a 73-61 win over Drake Sunday inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Iowa improved to 6-5 on the season with its eighth consecutive victory against the Bulldogs (6-3).

"I'm really pleased with our second half. I thought we played well in a number of areas," UI head coach Lisa Bluder said. "We shot the ball extremely well, but rebounding is a statistic I look at first after a game."

The Hawkeyes pulled down 42 rebounds compared to 27 by Drake.

"Good job, Iowa. I thought they played a terrific second half," Drake coach Amy Stephens said. "They were by far the more aggressive team. Iowa has some very nice, young offensive players with great offensive skills. They managed the game extremely well the last five minutes. You have to give Iowa a lot of credit."

Printy made 8 of 12 field goals and 4 of 5 from 3-point range. She added four assists, four rebounds and two steals. Freshman center Morgan Johnson tossed in 16 points with five rebounds and four blocked shots and sophomore point guard Kamille Wahlin scored 12 points and six assists.

The Hawkeyes received a 15-minute boost from Kachine Alexander, who returned to the lineup after missing seven games with a stress fracture. Alexander was 4 of 6 from the field with six rebounds.

"Just having Kash's presence on the floor means so much," Bluder said. "She sets an example to everyone on our team, showing how hard you need to work at this level."

Iowa made 19 of 33 field goals in the second half (57.6 percent) and outscored Drake 48-31 during the final 20 minutes. For the game, the Hawkeyes shot 49.2 percent from the field. Drake did not attempt a free throw.

The Hawkeyes return to action Tuesday, Dec. 22, against South Dakota State with a 7 p.m. tipoff inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
