WINNING IN EXTRA TIME The Hawkeyes knocked off Middle Tennessee this season, along with Wisconsin and Illinois last season. Iowa lost at Kansas State last year and also topped Wisconsin in OT in 2010. CAREER-HIGH FOR TAYLOR HAWKEYES LIKE TO SHARE The Hawkeyes have 258 assists on 387 made field goals this season (1.5 assist/field goal ratio). PERFECT DECEMEBER Vivian Stringer recorded three perfect December's (1987, 1992, 1993). HOT OVER THE LAST FIVE GAMES Iowa is averaging 85 points per game over the last five contests and holds a +22 scoring margin. Bethany Doolittle (64.7 percent) and Morgan Johnson (60.6 percent) are each shooting over 65 percent from the field. IOWA IN THE RANKINGS Seven Iowa opponents are ranked in the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today polls: Penn State (9th/9th), Purdue (14th/14th), North Carolina (15th/23rd), Florida State (19th/21st), Nebraska (25th/19th) and Ohio State (RV/24th). In addition, Iowa State, West Virginia, Michigan, Michigan State and Texas are receiving votes. HAWKEYES IN ELITE VICTORY COMPANY Connecticut, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Iowa are the only teams in the country to have at least four wins over opponents ranked in the ESPN/USA Today poll. Connecticut is 5-0, Tennessee is 5-2, Notre Dame is 4-1 and Iowa is 4-0. IOWA CONTINUES TREND AGAINST RANKED FOES The Hawkeyes have recorded at least one win against a top-25 team in all but two seasons under Bluder. In nine of those seasons, Iowa has knocked off at least one top-15 opponent. West Virginia was the highest ranked opponent the Hawkeyes have defeated since knocking off No. 10 Michigan State (66-64) on Jan. 27, 2011. This season marks just the second time in school history that Iowa has defeated three ranked teams prior to Big Ten play (No. 12 West Virginia, No. 22 Iowa State, No. 20 Texas). The only other time Iowa knocked off three ranked opponents was in 1993 (No. 4 Louisiana Tech, No. 20 Missouri State, No. 9 Southern California). This season is only the sixth time in school history that Iowa played at least three ranked teams prior to conference action. Iowa faced five ranked opponents in 1990 (2-3 record) and three ranked school in 1999 (0-3), 1995 (2-1), 1993 (3-0) and 1989 (1-2). Iowa has now defeated four ranked teams, marking the first time since the 1995-96 season that the Hawkeyes have accomplished that feat (seven victories, 7-3 record versus ranked teams in 1995-96). RPI AND STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE NOTES Iowa's strength of schedule is higher than 18 top 25 teams, including six top 10 teams and all teams receiving more votes than Iowa in the polls. SCHOOL/B1G RECORDS SET THIS SEASON Johnson entered the game needing two blocks to break Tangela Smith's career blocks record and she finished with five. Johnson currently ranks eighth in Big Ten history with 257 blocks. Jaime Printy tied the school record for 3-pointers made in a single game with seven against San Diego. Kamille Wahlin and Lindsey Meder are the only other Iowa players to hit seven 3's in a single game. Printy was 6-of-7 in the second half, making her final five attempts. Her seven made treys are the most by a Big Ten player this season. Samantha Logic broke Iowa's school record for assists in a single game against Texas, finishing with 14 assists. Her 14 assists are the most by a Big Ten player this season. Earlier this year, Logic tied the previous school record with 12 against Middle Tennessee State. Against West Virginia, Jaime Printy became only the third player in Big Ten history to go 17-of-17 from the free throw line, matching the best single game free throw performance in conference history. Wisconsin's Michele Kozelka (1989) and Keisha Anderson (1996) are the only other players in Big Ten history to accomplish the feat. Printy's 17 made free throws tied the single game school record and are tied for the second most made free throws in Big Ten history. Printy's performance against West Virginia marked the ninth time in school history that an Iowa player has been perfect from the free throw line (minimum 10 attempts). Printy now has three of those marks, with one of those performances coming earlier this year against Middle Tennessee (11-for-11). The other came against Indiana (10-for-10) on Feb. 27, 2011. As a team, the Hawkeyes set the Big Ten and school record for made free throws made (42) and set the school record for free throw attempts (50). TRIPLE 20 The last time an Iowa team had three players go over 20 points was against Wisconsin on March 9, 1991. Toni Foster had 23 points while LoTonya Tate and Steph Schueler each had 22. DOUBLE-DOUBLE THE HARD WAY The last Iowa player to record a rebound-assist double-double was April Calhoun against Denver during the 2002-03 season (10 rebounds, 10 assists). IMPROVED DEFENSIVE NUMBERS Iowa ranks second in the Big Ten and 11th in the NCAA in blocks per game at 6.1. Iowa is the only team in the Big Ten to block 10 shots in more than one game, having done it three times. The Hawkeyes are second in the Big Ten and 40th in the NCAA in field goal percentage defense, limiting opponents to a 34.4 field goal percentage. PRINTY CLOSE TO B1G FREE THROW RECORDS Printy is shooting 92.1 percent (70-of-76) for the season. The Big Ten single season record is 92.5 percent (99-of-107) by Indiana's Cyndi Valentin. BLUDER CLOSING IN ON MILESTONE Only 41 coaches in NCAA women's basketball history (all divisions) have reached the 600 career win plateau. MOVING UP CAREER CHARTS Jaime Printy ranks third in career 3-pointers made (225), sixth in career scoring (1,623) and eighth in career assists (359).
