Hawkeyes Face Hoosiers on Sunday

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- THE SETTING Five of Iowa's last six games have been on the road, dating back to Jan. 22 (at Penn State). IOWA HISTORY SCOUTING INDIANA In its last game, Indiana was defeated at Penn State, 76-44. Penn State netted 42 points in the paint and turned 24 Indiana turnovers into 25 points. Milika Taufa led the Hoosiers, scoring nine points off the bench. Aulani Sinclair and Sasha Chaplin each had eight points while Chaplin added 16 rebounds. Jasmine McGhee leads the Hoosiers with 12.9 points per game. Sinclair is next at 12 points per contest. Chaplin has a team-best 6.8 rebonds per contest. As a team, the Hoosiers are shooting 34.6 percent (486-1403) from the field, including 28 percent (79-282) from three-point distance. INDIANA VS. IOWA NOTES Iowa redshirt sophomore Theairra Taylor and Indiana junior Georgie Jones are both from St. Paul, MN, and were high school teammates at St. Paul Central High School. Indiana Junior Linda Rubene spent two seasons at Iowa Western Community College. LAST MEETING The Hawkeyes shot a season-best .558 (29-52) from the field against the Hoosiers. Iowa also converted 9-16 (.563) from distance and 26-32 (.813) from the charity stripe. Jaime Printy led the way with 28 points. Kachine Alexander chipped in a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Morgan Johnson added 14 points and Kamille Wahlin finished with 12. OPPONENTS IN THE RANKINGS In addition, Kansas State, St. John's, Michigan State and Kansas State are receiving votes. HAWKEYES WIN OVERTIME ROAD GAME AT WISCONSIN The Hawkeyes held a 73-68 lead with 2:24 left in regulation, but two Wisconsin free throws and a 3-pointer with 1:10 remaining tied the contest. Samantha Logic missed a 3-pointer with 39 seconds left, followed by a Wisconsin turnover with seven seconds on the clock. Kamille Wahlin's shot as time expired was blocked to force overtime. Iowa scored the first four points in overtime but Wisconsin tied the score at 77 with 2:48 left. Iowa then netted eight-straight points to seal the win, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line by Logic. Morgan Johnson scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while Logic had 20 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists. Wahlin had 14 points, four rebounds and four assists. DOUBLE-DOUBLE SQUARED Logic's double-double against Wisconsin was the second of her career. She scored 10 points and grabbed 11 rebounds at Northern Iowa (Nov. 19) for her first career double-double. Logic's first double-double was the first for an Iowa freshman since the 2009-10 season. Morgan Johnson had 16 points and 11 rebounds vs. Purdue (Jan. 31, 2010). Logic's 20 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists at Wisconsin were all career-highs. Johnson's double-double was the fourth of the season and 11th of her career. Iowa's starting center recorded back-to-back double-doubles for the first time in her career earlier this season. She scored 14 points (5-of-10 FGs) and grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds against Illinois. Johnson followed with 21 points (9-of-14 FGs) and 12 rebounds against Nebraska. Johnson had a double-double at half against the Huskers (10 points and 11 rebounds). CLOSING IN ON 1,000 PRINTY SUFFERS TORN ACL Printy has started every game since her freshman season, totaling 88 starts/games played. OVERTIME NOTES HAWKEYES IN CONFERENCE ONLY STATS Morgan Johnson leads the Big Ten in field goal percentage (59.8) and offensive rebounds per game (3.3) and ranks second in blocks per game (2.3) and rebounding (9.3). Kamille Wahlin is second in free throw percentage (92.6). IOWA RANKS HIGH IN FREE THROW PERCENTAGE The Hawkeyes haven't missed more than 10 free throws in any game this year and have attempted at least 10 in every contest, including 10 games with 20 or more attempts. JOHNSON FROM THE FIELD Johnson has atttempted at least 10 shots in 11 of Iowa's 23 games this season. In nine of those games, Johnson has shot 50 percent or better. Johnson was 5-of-10 (.500) vs. Harvard, 9-of-13 (.692) at Northern Iowa, 6-of-11 (.545) at Kansas State, 5-10 (.500) at Iowa State, 13-20 (.650) at Bradley, 11-16 (.688) at Ohio State, 5-of-10 (.500) vs. Illinois, 9-of-14 (.643) vs. Nebraska and 12-of-20 (.600) at Wisconsin. IOWA GUARDS LIKE TO SHARE Jaime Printy (sixth - 4.2), Samantha Logic (ninth - 3.7) and Kamille Wahlin (10th - 3.6) are all ranked. Northwestern has two players ranked. In the latest NCAA statistics, Iowa ranks 24th in assists per game (16.2). WAHLIN IMPROVING IN BIG TEN PLAY Wahlin is averaging 14.1 points per game in 10 conference games, compared to 9.5 points during Iowa's 13 nonconference contests. She has also earned 27 trips to the free throw line in Big Ten play, converting 25 attempts. In the 13 nonconference games, Wahlin was 16-of-20 from the stripe. Wahlin has already made 22 triples in Big Ten play after making 19 in the nonconference portion of the schedule. WAHLIN AND PRINTY ARE BEST ACTIVE 3-POINT SHOOTERS Wahlin's 208 career 3-pointers ranks first, while Printy's 197 rank second. Michigan's Carmen Reynolds is third with 186, Purdue's Brittany Rayburn is fourth with 181, Ohio State's Samantha Prahalis is fifth with 171 and Penn State's Maggie Lucas is sixth with 167. HAWKEYE 3-POINT SHOOTERS IN ELITE COMPANY Kamille Wahlin (third), Jaime Printy (fourth) and Kelly Krei (seventh) all rank inside the top 10 in career three-pointers made at Iowa. Only Oral Roberts and Miami (Fla.) have three players inside its respective top 10. PRINTY AND WAHLIN SCORING NOTES Printy also became just the 10th player in Iowa history to hit the 1,400 point mark in Iowa's win over Purdue (Jan. 28). Printy cracked the top 10 on Iowa's career scoring list against Wisconsin (Jan. 19). She entered the game needing five points to pass Wendy Ausdemore for 10th place, and she netted 25. WAHLIN REACHES MILESTONE Wahlin entered the game with 197 treys and finished with five. She currently ranks third on Iowa's career 3-point list behind Lindsey Meder (261) and Wendy Ausdemore (221). Four players hit double figures against Northern Iowa, Kansas State, Western Illinois and Northwestern. Three players reached double digits against Harvard, Albany, Ohio State, Illinois, Nebraska, at Purdue, vs. Wisconsin, at Nebraska and at Wisconsin. LOGIC AND JOHNSON AMONG BEST IN THEIR CLASS Samantha Logic ranks fourth in Iowa freshmen assists with 84. Jaime Printy holds the record with 99. She is also third in steals with 36 and Johanna Solverson holds the record with 57. MOVING UP CAREER CHARTS Kamille Wahlin ranks third in career 3-pointers made (208), fifth in career assists (390) and 13th in career scoring (1,348). She needs 14 more 3-pointers to move past Wendy Ausdemore into second place, two more assists to move past Johanna Solverson for fourth place and 62 more points to pass Jaime Printy for 10th place. Morgan Johnson ranks second in career blocks (207), 15th in career rebounds (584) and 32nd in career scoring (969). She needs 29 more blocks to move past Tangela Smith for first place, 31 more rebounds to move past Lynn Kennedy for 14th place and 56 more points to pass Tiffany Gooden for 31st place. Jaime Printy ranks fourth in career 3-pointers made (197), 10th in career scoring (1,409) and 12th in career assists (304). She needs 10 more 3-pointers to move past Wahlin for third place, 31 more points to move past Megan Skouby for ninth place and 19 more assists to move past Lisa Anderson for 11th place. Kelly Krei ranks seventh in career 3-pointers made (149) and 18th in career rebounds (520). She needs eight more 3-pointers to move past Leah Magner into sixth place and 17 more rebounds to pass Kim Howard for 17th place.
