ATHENS, GREECE - - The Iowa women's basketball team lost to the Greek National Team 81-55 Tuesday night. The contest was one of three exhibitions against Greece on the Hawkeyes' 11-day foreign tour.

Iowa had a trio of players post double figures for the second consecutive game. Wendy Ausdemore and JoAnn Hamlin each scored 12 points, while Megan Skouby netted 10. Ausdemore tallied 10 of her 12 points in the first stanza. Hamlin had a great game tonight, missing only two shots from the floor (6-8). The native of Douglass, KS, was only one rebound shy of a double-double, as she cleared nine boards and also collected five assists and two steals. Jenee Graham tallied six points, four assists and three steals, while Lindsey Nyenhuis had four rebounds and three steals.

The score was not indicative of how much better Iowa played from the previous contest against Greek National Team. Greece made five of its first six 3-pointers and shot 59 percent from the field for the game. The Hawkeyes played most of the game in zone and forced Greece to shoot outside jump shots, which it was able to convert.

Iowa trailed by 19 (48-29) at the half, but attempted a comeback in the third quarter. The Hawkeyes went on a 10-0 run in the middle of the period to cut the deficit to 12 (51-39), however Greece answered with eight straight points to reestablish a comfortable margin and maintained a double-digit

"I thought we did a lot better on the defensive end tonight, I thought we were more aggressive," said Hamlin. Greece pushed and we pushed back, we weren't so much on our heels. They were just hitting 3-pointers like crazy. They shot lights-out. We didn't give up as many lay-ups as we did the first night and we talked a lot more on defense and offense I think that helped a lot."

The Hawkeye team will spend Wednesday on a cruise to three Greek Islands before returning to the court to meet Greece a final time Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. local time (11:30 a.m. CDT).
