IOWA CITY, IA - Junior Caroline Blaum suffered a season ending injury during pre-game warm-ups in an exhibition game against Missouri State on August 19.

Blaum underwent a successful surgery on August 30 to repair a torn ACL and MCL in her right leg. A second-team all-Big Ten selection from a year ago, Blaum is looking forward to making progress toward getting back on to the field with her teammates.

"Caroline has been and will continue to be missed, but she is doing the best she can to get back," Head Coach Tracey Griesbaum said. "She continues to be a positive aspect to our team."

Blaum, who is one of three team captains for this season, will be taking a redshirt year this year which will allow her to have two seasons of eligibility remain in her career as a Hawkeye. Caroline is hoping to be able to rejoin the team during the spring.
