The National Field Hockey Coaches Association has named Iowa senior Debbie Birrell to the North Squad for the 2005 NFHCA all-Star game. The game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., Nov. 19, in Louisville, KY.

Birrell is a midfielder/forward for the Hawkeyes. Through 14 games, the Kentucky native has dished out five assists and scored eight goals with one game-winner. Last season, Birrell was a second team all-Big Ten selection as well as a NFHCA West Regional all-American. Highlights in Birrell's career include a two-goal game in Iowa's 4-3 overtime victory over Michigan last season and scored her first-career goal as a sophomore in Iowa's 1-0 win over Temple in 2003.

Birrell, along with teammates Shelby Roche and Kelly Slattery, will be recognized for their time with the Hawkeyes at this Saturday's game against Indiana. Game time is 1 p.m.
