THE STAFFA tradition of excellence. The University of Iowa field hockey program has one of the richest traditions in the nation.
UI head coach Tracey Griesbaum is entering her 12th season with the Hawkeyes and in each of the first 11 years, associate head coach Lisa Cellucci (UI's all-time saves leader) has been by her side. The duo has continued to build the Hawkeye tradition. Together, the pair has led Iowa to three Big Ten Tournament Championships (2006, 2007, 2008), one regular season Big Ten title, four NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2008 NCAA Final Four. The duo has produced 15 All-Americans, 41 regional All-Americans, 41 all-Big Ten selections, three Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year award winners and two Big Ten Freshman of the Year honorees. Assistant coach Meghan Beamesderfer returns to the UI staff in 2011. Beamesderfer, a former Iowa All-American under Griesbaum and Cellucci, helped lead the Hawkeyes to the Big Ten Tournament title and NCAA Final Four.
