Iowa Bounces Back After First Round

Columbus, OH - - The Iowa Hawkeyes women's golf team cut 17 strokes off its first round score to finish the first day of the Lady Buckeye Invitational in 12th place. Iowa had a team score of 637 after 36 holes, while No. 31 Ohio State is in the lead with 589. Freshman Chelsea Harris (+16, 160) helped to pace the Hawkeyes today with 81 on the first 18 and 79 on the second. Tyrette Metzendorf bounced back after a tough first round-82, shooting 76 her second 18. Becky Quinby (+17, 161) also finished strong in the second round. Quinby knocked 9 strokes off her first round total of 85. Sophomores Laura Cilek (+20) and Brianna Coopman (+21) stayed close, finishing with 164, 165, respectively. Cilek had strong first round for the Hawkeyes with 79, and Coopman followed that lead in the second round, where she carded 79. The final round of the 29th Annual Lady Buckeye Invitational will tee off tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m.
