Hawkeyes Compete In Day One Of Lady Northern

EAST LANSING, MI -- The University of Iowa women's golf team is in eighth place after playing 36-holes at the Lady Northern Invitational Saturday. Iowa carded a 617 at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, MI. Michigan State is in the lead with a score of 597. Forest Akers West Golf Course will also be home to the 2007 Big Ten Championships in the spring. Tyrette Metzendorf (Winter Haven, FL) is tied for tenth, carding a seven over par, 151. She shot a season-best first-round score of 74. Tied for 23rd is Amy Riepma (Clear Lake, IA) with a 153 +9. Jill Marcum (Clarinda, IA) shot a 13 over par, 157, and is tied for 38th. Melanie Boyles (Tempe, AZ) and Karla Murra (Sioux Falls, SD) are tied for 52nd (162 +18). Iowa will play the remaining 18-holes tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, MI.
