ROCK HILL, S.C. - The University of Iowa women's golf team finished Round One at the Shamrock Intercollegiate tied in fourth place with Princeton. The Hawkeyes shot a 316 (+28) Friday, just 10 strokes off first place Charleston Southern.
The Hawkeyes were once again paced by a pair of juniors. Tyrette Metzendorf started off fast and is tied for fifth place (76) and junior Becky Quinby is tied for ninth place (77). Seniors Jill Marcum finished the first round tied for 11th-place (78), and senior Melanie Boyles was tied in 42nd-place with sophomore teammate Alison Cavanaugh (85).
Head Coach Kelly Crawford also brought four players competing as individuals in the tournament, including freshman Brianna Coopman, who finished the day tied for third place (75, +3). Rounding out the individual competitors for the Hawkeyes were freshmen Amanda Stahl (86), Laura Cilek (88), and Lauren Forbes (90).
Round two will commence Saturday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
