    MOUNT PLEASANT, MI - Iowa earned three event wins and claimed the top all-around spot while dominating Central Michigan, 193.625-189.650. Iowa moves to 3-2 on the season.

    Jenifer Simbhudas again had the best showing for the Hawkeyes this week, earning the top spot in three events and the all-around. On vault, Simbhudas earned the win with a 9.775. With impressive first-place performances on bars and floor, Simbhudas earned scores of 9.825 and 9.8, respectively.

    Simbhudas placed second on beam with a score of 9.775. In her best all-around performance of 2008 thus far Simbhudas claimed the win with a total 39.175.

    On vault, junior Kara Pinjuv earned a 9.725 to place third, while freshman Houry Gebeshian competed strongly for the Hawkeyes, earning a fifth-place 9.55. Nikki Page and Amanda Rudolph tied for sixth in the event, scoring 9.525.

    Scoring a team total 48.725 on bars, the Hawkeyes claimed four of the top six spots. Katie Burke and Ally Zipse tied for third with a 9.75, and Kara Pinjuv earned a fourth-place 9.725.

    Moving on to beam, Gebeshian once again showed what she's worth to the Hawkeyes with an impressive third-place performance, earning a 9.725. Pinjuv finished fourth with a 9.675 while Brandi Loffer tied for fifth, scoring 9.625.

    Wrapping up competition on the floor exercise, Iowa continued to dominate the meet, claiming the top five spots. Finishing second behind Simbhudas, Pinjuv earned a 9.75. Freshman Kristen Ward had a remarkable floor performance for the Hawkeyes, finishing third with a 9.7. Loffer earned a fourth-place 9.65 while Burke placed fifth with a 9.625.

    In the all-around, the Hawkeyes claimed the top two spots, Simbhudas finishing first and Pinjuv second (38.875). Burke placed fourth in the all-around earning 38.0 while Gebeshian finished fifth with a 37.9.

    Iowa will host its first home meet of the season next week, competing against Illinois, Friday. Competition will take place in Carver-Hawkeye Arena and is set to begin at 7 p.m.
