IOWA CITY - No. 26 Iowa competed against 8th-ranked Oklahoma today.  Iowa lost to Oklahoma, 195.650-194.525.  The score was Iowa's second highest this season.

On vault, freshman Katie Turcotte posted the highest score for the Hawkeyes with a 9.875. The score earned her a tie for first with Kiara Redmond and Brittney Koncak-Schumann of Oklahoma. Other vault scores include Katie Burke with a 9.775 to tie for fifth, and Jenifer Simbhudas, scoring 9.75 to tie for eighth.

"I feel like our team is really coming together and helping each other out. With people down, others are willing to go in and help, which in turn helps the team," said Turcotte.

On bars, Koncak-Schumann won the event, scoring 9.925. The top bars competitors for Iowa were Kara Pinjuv and Ally Zipse, tying for fourth with a 9.75. Burke placed eighth with a 9.725 and Beth Dilick and Simbhudas tied for ninth, scoring 9.7.

"I think we did great tonight," said Burke. "We haven't hit our peak yet but we keep building up to it. We had fun tonight, and it felt like we were doing our thing, and with that, the results came easily."

On beam, Simbhudas and Legeai had the highest score for Iowa, tying for fourth place with a 9.725. Nikki Page and Turcotte tied for seventh with a score of 9.675, while Brandi Loffer placed ninth, scoring 9.55. On floor, Koncak-Schumann of Oklahoma won the event (9.875), while Iowa's Burke tied for second (9.85), and Loffer placed sixth with a 9.8.

In the all-around, Oklahoma's Redmond won the event with a 39.25. Iowa's Turcotte placed second, scoring 38.825, while Burke placed third with a 38.6.

"We are so proud of this team. We've had depth problems in the past and we were a bit worried tonight but the girls stepped up and handled the challenge," said Iowa Head Coach Larissa Libby. "These girls love to compete and we couldn't ask for more. It's what Iowa Gymnastics has always been about."

Iowa will compete at Minnesota, February 24th, at 6 p.m.
