    AMES, IA--No. 24 Iowa competed at Iowa State tonight, losing 195.125-193.800, bringing the Hawkeyes to 4-4-1 for the season. Katie Burke placed second in the all around, earning a season-best 39.075.

    Burke also earned second place in floor with a score of 9.850 and tied for second on the uneven bars with a season-best score of 9.800. Junior Jenifer Simbhudas finished close behind Burke, earning a 39.000 in the all-around to finish third and Brandi Loffer took fourth place with a score of 38.800.

    On bars, Iowa earned a team-total of 47.850. Jenifer Simbhudas was the highest scorer behind Burke in the event, finishing fourth with a 9.750. Freshman Houry Gebeshian tied for fifth place with a 9.725, tying her own season best score and Loffer tied for a seventh place finish with a 9.675. Senior Ally Zipse earned an 11th place finish with an 8.900 and Kara Pinjuv placed 12th with a score of 8.375.

    Freshman Rebecca Simbhudas was the top scorer on balance beam for the Hawkeyes, finishing fifth with a 9.750. Burke finished close behind, earning a sixth place finish with a 9.725 and tying her own season best score. Jenifer Simbhudas and Loffer tied for eighth place, both earning a 9.675. Rounding out the event for Iowa were Gebeshian, who finished 10th with a 9.650, and Pinjuv, who earned an 11th place finish with a 9.575.

    Iowa tied Iowa State for the floor competition, finishing with a team-total score of 48.975. Jenifer Simbhudas finished with Iowa's highest score on floor behind Burke, earning a fifth place finish with a 9.800. Loffer, Gebeshian and Pinjuv all tied for sixth place in the event with a 9.775, which is a new season best for Loffer. Sophomore Jenny Donar finished 11th with a 9.650.

    The Hawkeyes will continue this weekend's competition Sunday, hosting No. 19 Michigan State and No. 21 Illinois. The competition is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in a meet honoring the Girl Scouts of America.
