IOWA CITY - University of Iowa women's gymnastics junior Katie Burke has been named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week. The announcement came today from the Big Ten office.

Burke earned the honor after the best showing of her career last weekend at Minnesota. She won on bars (9.8), beam (9.825), and tied for first on floor (9.85). Burke also won the all-around with a score of 39.25. All of those scores were career-bests for Burke. In addition, her beam and all-around scores are Iowa's top scores on those events this season.

Burke is ranked third in the conference and 29th nationally in the all-around. Iowa will host its final home meets this weekend, facing Southern Utah, Friday at 7 p.m., and Iowa State, Sunday at 2 p.m.
