IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The University of Iowa women's soccer team improved its spring unbeaten streak to five games, beating Marquette, 4-2, Saturday afternoon at the Iowa Soccer Complex. The Hawkeyes improve to 4-0-1 this exhibition season.

The Hawkeyes led, 2-1, after the first half. Junior Ashley Catrell put Iowa on the board first, scoring in the 13th minute. Sophomores Cloe Lacasse and Nicole Urban tallied assists on the goal. Iowa pushed another goal through in the 38th minute as junior Alex Melin found net off an assist from sophomore Mel Pickert.

Two second half goals secured the victory for Iowa. The Black and Gold were strong out of intermission as freshman Brooke Backes scored in the 45th minute. Lacasse tallied her second assist of the contest to create the scoring opportunity.

Lacasse provided another opportunity in attack, drawing a foul inside the box to earn a penalty kick. Catrell took the PK and beat Marquette's goalkeeper to provide Iowa's fourth goal. Catrell has six goals this spring, while Lacasse has chipped in with five assists.

Iowa has outscored its opponents 14-2 in exhibition action, and has a 2-0-1 record against teams that advanced to the NCAA Championships in the fall.

Iowa closes its spring exhibition season next week in Ames, Iowa, at the Big Ten/Big 12 Challenge. The Big Ten will be represented by Iowa and Minnesota. The Hawkeyes will meet Iowa State and Kansas.
