Hawkeyes Entertain In-state Rivals

This Week Scouting the Opponents Amanda Woelfel leads the Cyclones this season with three goals, followed by Casey Bothwell who has two. Head Coach James Price is in his first season at UNI. He is assisted by Sonia Rodriguez, also in her first season. The Panthers offense is led by Chelsie Hochstedler who has four of the team's 10 goals this season. Lauren Potzman is in goal for UNI. The sophomore has recorded 39 saves and two shutouts this season. Series History Iowa leads Northern Iowa in the overall series 6-0. Iowa traveled to Cedar Falls last season to face the Panthers. The Hawkeyes won with a 2-0 decision. Moran In Goal The sophomore recorded 74 saves in her freshman campaign and has 29 this season. Moran is averaging just over four saves a game. Adding to her resume, Moran and the Iowa defense have held three teams scoreless this season. Shutouts were posted against Montana (2-0), South Dakota State (2-0) and Wisconsin-Milwaukee (4-0). Mottershead Is Big Ten Player of the Week The freshman played a big role in Iowa's wins, scoring three of Iowa's eight goals and recording one assist. Freshmen Score Mottershead's goal came in the 16th minute against Loyola-Chicago. Mandy Heimann found Mottershead just inside the six-yard box, where the freshman capitalized on the pass and found the net. Mottershead also scored a second goal in Iowa's win. Lewis outworked two Wisconsin-Milwaukee defenders and the goalkeeper for a header goal in the 74th minute. Lewis was assisted by Mottershead and Jenna Aleo. Iowa in Big Ten Rankings The team is also third in goals per game, averaging 2.57 goals per match. The Hawkeyes remain in fourth place for assist percentage, recording 15 in seven games. Friday Night Tailgate At Iowa Mike Hall and crew preview the conference's football games for the weekend in addition to exploring the host campus. The Iowa football team takes on Arizona Saturday.
