Debbie Bilbao enters her first season as an assistant coach with the Iowa Hawkeyes. As the Hawkeyes' pitching coach, Bilbao primarily works with the Iowa hurlers. Additionally, her pitching skills in practice are instrumental in the development of the Hawkeye hitters. Bilbao returns to Iowa after serving as head coach at Utah State from 2002-04. Under the direction of Bilbao, three Aggies earned all-conference recognition. Prior to being head coach at Utah State, Bilbao served as assistant coach at Sacramento State during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. Bilbao returns to Iowa where she is one of the most decorated players in the program's history. Bilbao played for Coach Blevins from 1995-98 and was a three-time All-American. Bilbao helped guide the Hawkeyes to three straight College World Series appearances from 1995-97. She still holds school records for RBI in a season (61), games pitched in a career (181) and career wins (99). Bilbao served as a student assistant coach at Iowa from 1998-99. Bilbao is a native of Sandy, Utah. |
