IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Winning two gold medals and the USA Softball Female Athlete of the Year honor weren't enough for University of Iowa assistant softball coach Stacy May-Johnson. She's ready for a second go round.

On Wednesday, May-Johnson was selected to her second stint as a member of the 2012 USA Softball Women's National Team.

May-Johnson, who is in her second season as Iowa's assistant coach, helped Team USA to the Gold Medal at the 2011 World Cup of Softball in July in Oklahoma City and the 2011 Pan American Games in October in Guadalajara, Mexico.

May-Johnson went 33-for-79 to post a .418 batting average during her first stint with Team USA, ranking first on the team in hits and at-bats and third among National Team members in batting average. She had four doubles, a triple and a team-high six home runs for a .722 slugging percentage. May-Johnson had team-highs in runs scored (26) and RBI (30), nine more than her nearest teammate.

The 2012 Women's National Team will compete at the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City, the Canadian Open Fast Pitch International Championship in Surrey, B.C., Canada, and the World Championship in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. The Women's Elite National Team will compete at the World University Games in Colorado Springs, Colo. Additional events may be added to the team schedules at a later date.

May-Johnson and the Hawkeyes open the 2012 season at the Getterman Classic in Waco, Texas, on Feb. 10-12. Iowa opens the season against Wichita State on Feb. 10 beginning at 12:30 p.m.
