IOWA CITY, Iowa -- University of Iowa shortstop Megan Blank has been tabbed as the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week, it was announced this afternoon by the league office. It is Blank's second accolade this season.

The Culver City, Calif., native finished the three-game set at Northwestern with a .667 batting average, collecting four hits in six at-bats. She also posted a 1.167 slugging percentage, reached base at an .833 clip, had five RBI and scored four runs.

Blank was perfect from the plate in games one and two of the series, combining for three runs and two RBI. She went 1-for-1 with a run and RBI in Iowa's 5-2 victory in the opener before going 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI in game two. In the finale, Blank delivered a three-run, bases-clearing triple.

During Iowa's four games during the week, Blank reached base safely in 11-of-15 plate appearances. She was on base in nine consecutive at-bats, reaching via a base on ball in her final at-bat against Drake and in all eight at-bats in the Saturday doubleheader at Northwestern.

Blank was previously honored as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Feb. 13 following her play at the Getterman Classic in Waco, Texas.

The Hawkeyes return to action Saturday, hosting Nebraska in a doubleheader at Pearl Field beginning at 2 p.m. (CT).
