AUSTIN, Texas -- Two University of Iowa divers represented the Hawkeyes at the first day of the 2011 women's NCAA Championships Thursday. Deidre Freeman and Veronica Rydze earned all-American honors with their top-16 finishes on the one-meter springboard.

Freeman and Rydze both advanced to the consolation finals event in the one-meter after placing 15th and 16th, respectively in the preliminary round.

Rydze went on to place 13th in the consolation event with a score of 296.65, which marks a collegiate best score. Her previous best score (296.35) was captured at the 2011 Big Ten Championships. Freeman finished 15th overall with a score of 286.30.

Both divers will return to boards tomorrow on the three-meter. Preliminary rounds begin at 11 a.m. and finals competition is scheduled for 6 p.m.
