IOWA CITY, IA - The University of Iowa women's swimming team posted a score of 130.00, only to be outdone by Kansas' score of 131.00. Iowa defeated UNI by a score of 229.00 to 32.00.

The Hawkeyes' meet against the Jayhawks wasn't decided until the final race, the 400 freestyle relay. Iowa's A team consisting of Katie Haeger, Christie Hooper, Joyce VanKeulen, and Abby VanMaaren, finished in 3:28.86 to place first, while the B team (Karen Kelly, Jackie Molzahn, Katie Martin, Erin Cochran) finished third with a time of 3:32.97. Kansas' A team recorded a time of 3:28.87 to place second, giving them a one point advantage over the Hawkeyes.

 

Jennifer Skolaski had a big day placing first in the 100-back, 200-back, and 500-free. Katelyn Eustis won the 1,000-free with a time of 10:27.59, and Abby VanMaaren captured a win in the 50-free.

The Hawkeyes compete next on October 24 at home against Michigan State. Competition at the Field House will start at 2 p.m.
