Freeman Moves on to Fina Grand Prix
Former Hawkeye posts 2nd place finish in synchronized 3-meter diving

    IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Former University of Iowa diver Deidre Freeman earned a second place finish at the 2014 USA Diving AT&T Senior National Diving Championships in the women's synchronized 3-meter springboard on Sunday.

    Freeman teamed up with Texas diver Maren Taylor in the women's synchronized 3-meter springboard; with a score of 284.40. The second-place finish earned a bid to the Fina Grand Prix on Oct. 24-26, in Kuala Lumpar, Malaysia. Competing in a pair of events, Freeman placed 24th overall in the senior women's 3-meter springboard with a score of 242.65 in the quarterfinals.

    University of Iowa divers Addison Boschult and Lydia Lehnert also took part in competition over the weekend.

    Boschult, competing in the senior men's platform diving, posted a score of 319.70 in the quarterfinals and placed 17th overall with a final score of 287.20.

    Lehnert, competing in the senior women's platform diving, finished 20th overall with a score of 235.25 in the quarterfinals.

    The Hawkeyes open the 2014-15 season, hosting Michigan and Nebraska on Oct. 3, at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center Pool.
