Nick Dargene Volunteer Assistant Coach Fourth Season
Nick Dargene is in his fourth season as volunteer assistant coach with the Hawkeyes.
Dargene played collegiate tennis for Monmouth University in the NEC conference. He played at the No. 2 and 3 singles positions and the No. 1 and 2 doubles spots. His team awarded him the Most Improved Athlete Award his sophomore year. Dargene was also honored as NEC Athlete of the Week during his sophomore season.
He started taking tennis lessons at age five and began playing in junior tournaments when he was 12. He was a highly-ranked USTA player in Northern Illinois' district throughout the juniors. In high school, Dargene qualified for state three times. He was named team Most Valuable Player twice, awarded all-conference honors twice and all-state honors once.
Dargene has been a tennis instructor for seven years. He currently provides tennis lessons for the University of Iowa's Recreation Services Department.
Dargene graduated from the University of Iowa in May 2003, with a BBA in Marketing and a minor in political science. He is currently enrolled in the Sports and Health Studies MA program at Iowa.
