IOWA CITY - Iowa finished its first tournament at the new indoor West Campus Tennis-Recreation Center in style. The Hawkeyes won 28 out of 29 matches this weekend in a dominant performance against Iowa State, Northern Iowa, and Northern Illinois. Although competition at the Hawkeye Invitational was not scheduled to finish until tomorrow, due to weather concerns, all singles matches were completed today.

The Hawkeyes won all 15 singles matches and all three doubles matches played today. Iowa's duo of Hillary Mintz and Kelcie Klockenga were tournament co-champions with Iowa State's Kara Hickey and Eve Soriano in this weekend's doubles competition. Iowa junior Jacqueline Lee, successful in flight A, became the singles tournament champion after defeating Jill Palen of Iowa State, 6-4, 6-4.

Lee, Mili Veselinovic, Mintz, Klockenga, Kayla Berry, and Merel Beelen all won every singles match they competed in this weekend. Freshman walk-on Jennifer Barnes won four out of five singles matches this weekend.

Although all teams were to have played two doubles matches today, the second match-up was cancelled due to the time change of the tournament.

Iowa's Mintz/Klockenga defeated Paritala/Pukse of Northern Iowa, 8-3, while Lee/Berry defeated Hannes/Kanade, 8-2, and Veselinovic/Beelen beat Moraes/Muraca, 8-4.

"I am happy with our overall performance this weekend. I felt that coming in, we potentially were the strongest team in the tournament field, and I was happy with the way we came in and dominated. We were definitely challenged, but the girls stepped up and got it done," said Iowa Head Coach Daryl Greenan.

The Hawkeyes will travel to Milwaukee, WI next weekend to face Louisville and Marquette.
