    EVANSTON, Ill. - The University of Iowa women's tennis team continued play at the Wildcat Invitational Saturday. Iowa had two individuals advance to the semifinal round of their respective brackets. The Hawkeyes finished the day 4-6 overall in singles. The Black and Gold's day also included the doubles team consisting of senior Lynne Poggensee-Wei and freshman Christina Harazin placing second in their bracket.

    In doubles play, juniors Ally Majercik and Cassandra Escobar lost to Illinois-Chicago's Hristicova/Knoppe. Poggensee-Wei and Harazin fell in the Flight C championship to Pintusova/Wiecha of Minnesota 8-5. Seniors Jessica Young and Alexis Dorr were defeated by Stojic/Jocic of South Carolina 8-6 in the Flight D consolation championship.

    In singles, Escobar fell to Liz Kobak of Northwestern 6-0, 6-3 but bounced back to beat Oklahoma's Peta Lancaster 6-4, 6-4. Majercik posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Minnesota's Elliana Kantar before losing to Michaela Silesova of Michigan State. Dorr advanced to the Flight B semifinals by beating Miloslava Shutstova of Western Michigan 7-6 (7), 6-2. Dorr's semifinal match against Christiana Raymond of DePaul began but was suspended due to darkness. Dorr was winning the first set 4-1 when play was halted. The match will conclude tomorrow morning. Young beat Wisconsin's Aleksandra Markovic 7-6 (3), 6-3. Young later lost in the Flight C semifinals to Miki Jocic of South Carolina 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (4). Harazin was defeated by Emilie Renault of Minnesota 6-4, 6-4. Poggensee-Wei lost 6-1, 6-3 to South Carolina's Dijana Sticic. She later lost to Stacic's teammate, Katrina Popova, 6-0, 6-1.

    The tournament will wrap up tomorrow with play beginning at 8:30 a.m. (CT).
