LAWRENCE, Kan. - Three members of the University of Iowa women's tennis team competed at the KU Tournament over the weekend. Freshman Christina Harazin led the Hawkeyes as she posted a 2-1 singles record and won the tournament's white consolation bracket.
After dropping a three-set decision (3-6, 6-1, 6-4) to Abbie Probert of Colorado in the first round, Harazin bounced back to defeat a pair of UMKC teammates. Harazin downed Suzan Lisenby 6-1, 6-0 prior to beating Chelsea Horner 6-0, 6-2 to claim the white consolation bracket title. Harazin also teamed with junior Cassandra Escobar in doubles. After dropping three tough matches, the pair regrouped to finish the tournament with an 8-4 victory over Armstrong Atlantic State's Gardefjord/Szymczyk.
Iowa will return to action Nov. 4-7 the USTA/ITA Intercollegiate Indoor in Flushing, N.Y. The tournament will be Iowa's last competition of 2010 fall season.
