Hawkeyes Finish Fall Season on High Note

DES MOINES, Iowa - The University of Iowa women's tennis team concluded the fall season in perfect fashion on Sunday. The Hawkeyes went 10-0 overall on the final day of competition at the Drake Jamboree and picked up three singles titles along the way.
Juniors Katie Zordani and Ellen Silver each picked up their third straight singles victory of the weekend to capture a pair of singles titles for the Hawkeyes. Zordani improved to 7-4 this fall season with a victory over SIU-Edwardsville's Lexi Aranda, 6-3, 7-6(5). Silver defeated Kali Donner of SIU-Edwardsville in three sets, 4-6, 6-3, 10-8, to move to 4-3 on the year.
Hawkeye Freshman Aimee Tarun also earned a singles title on Sunday with a victory over McKenzie Thomas of SIU-Edwardsville, 6-3, 6-2. Tarun ended the fall season with a 5-4 singles record.
"I'm very happy for Katie, Ellen and Aimee picking up their first tournament wins of their collegiate careers," said UI head coach Katie Dougherty.
The Hawkeyes went three-for-three in doubles matches with Bradley on Sunday to go 7-4 overall at the three-day tournament.
"We finished the fall strong today. It was a great team effort on all fronts today. We'll use this as momentum going into the offseason and the spring," said Dougherty.
