IOWA CITY, Iowa - - The University of Iowa women's tennis team welcomed four freshmen to its roster this past fall, including St. Andrews, Scotland, native Morven McCulloch. McCulloch beat three Big Ten opponents en route to a 4-2 singles record in her first fall as a collegiate competitor. She recently sat down with hawkeyesports.com to discuss her first impression of the University of Iowa.

Why did you choose the University of Iowa?
"Because it seemed like it had the best program for tennis and school."

What has been the biggest adjustment from high school to college?
"Coming from a different country, adjusting to the different school work and all the programs that it has to offer."

What is the difference between junior tennis and college tennis?
"The competitiveness of the players and having dual matches rather than just tournaments. It's nice to play for a team."

During the fall season, what did you do to keep yourself entertained on road trips?
"We watched movies or did our homework."

If you could play a tennis match against anyone, who would it be? Why?
"Roger Federer because he's one of the best players and I'd like to meet him."

What is your best tennis memory ever?
"Playing in the European Youth Olympics a couple of years ago."

What person has been most influential on your tennis game?
"My coach at home because I've been with him the longest."

What do you like to do in your free time away from the tennis court?
"Watch movies, hang out with friends and go out to eat."

What impresses you about the coaching staff?
"They're just really supportive of everyone's play. They're always there to help if you need it."

What is your favorite thing about the program?
"I just like the team in general. Everyone helps each other out and supports one another whenever it's needed."

What has been the best part about being a student-athlete at Iowa?
"Definitely playing on a team, being a Hawkeye."
