IOWA CITY, Iowa - University of Iowa women's tennis player Ruth Seaborne is ranked No. 56 in the ITA Division I Women's Preseason Rankings.

Seaborne's national ranking is the third-highest singles ranking in program history. Meg Racette ended the 2006 season ranked No. 35, and Sonja Molnar reached No. 55 in 2010.

Before posting a 6-2 record this fall, Seaborne entered the preseason singles polls ranked No. 65. The England native's fall season was highlighted by a victory over Miami's No. 54 Kelsey Laurente at the All-American Championships. She also went unbeaten in singles play at the Drake Jamboree.

Seaborne and the Hawkeyes open the spring season Jan. 17 when they travel to Evanston, Ill. to compete in the Northwestern Invitational.
