"We're ready to get going and start the season. We have a lot of positives to build off of following the fall season and last weekend's competition at UCF. Iowa State is a good team, we beat them 4-3 last year in a tight match. Being a part of the Cy-Hawk series is always exciting and we're looking forward to battling in Ames."

Iowa has one junior transfer and two freshmen on the 2012-13 roster. In the fall season, Annette Dohanics went undefeated at the Gopher Invitational, earning the Maroon Singles Flight title. Caitlin Hindmarsh advanced as far as the Gold Doubles Flight consolation championship at the Gopher Invitational. Junior Ruth Seaborne joins the Hawkeyes from Florida State. Seaborne was rated No. 68 with Shelby Talcott in the ITA Doubles Preseason Poll. Combined, the newcomers posted a 22-12 record in the Fall season.

The Cy-Hawk Series is in its ninth season in 2012-13, being sponsored for the second time by Iowa Corn. Iowa leads this season's series, 10-9, with three contests remaining, including women's tennis, women's gymnastics, and softball. Each school has won the in-state competition four times since 2004-05.

Katie Dougherty has led the Hawkeyes to a perfect record against Iowa State since being named Iowa's head coach in 2009. The Hawkeyes swept Iowa State, 7-0, in 2009-10, and nudged past the Cyclones, 4-3, in 2011-12. The teams did not compete in 2010-11.

The Hawkeyes host Notre Dame in their home opener Feb. 4. Competition will begin at 3 p.m. at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
