IOWA CITY - University of Iowa women's tennis player Meg Racette has been named Big Ten Player of the Week.  The announcement came Wednesday from the Big Ten office.

Racette earned the honor after strong performances against Marquette and Baylor last weekend. She defeated defending NCAA Champion, Baylor's Zuzana Zemenova, currently ranked 17th, 6-4, 6-4. Racette also defeated Marquette's Lauren Little, 6-0, 6-7(5), 10-5 in singles play. In doubles play Racette and Merel Beelen won, 8-2, against Marquette. Racette, a native of Urbandale, IA, currently ranks #21 in the ITA Tennis rankings.

The Hawkeyes are ranked 43rd in the ITA Tennis rankings and return to action Friday at Denver.
