IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Hawkeye senior Sonja Molnar has been named Most Valuable Player for the University of Iowa women's tennis team. Head coach Katie Dougherty announced the honor at the team's annual awards banquet May 3.

Molnar, a four-time first team All-Big Ten performer, led Iowa with a 16-6 dual record while playing at the No. 1 singles position. She recorded a 27-8 overall record while becoming the third player in program history to reach 100 career victories.

Freshman Morven McCulloch earned the award for Most Improved Player. McCulloch finished her rookie campaign with an 11-12 dual record, splitting time between the No. 2 and 3 positions.

Freshman Katie Zordani was awarded the Grinder Award, given to the player who consistently contributes to the team through hard work and dedication during practice and on the competition court.

All three award winners were voted upon by their peers.
