The University of Iowa women's tennis team got a huge win over Big Ten opponent Ohio State Sunday. Iowa celebrated the last home meet in the careers of Steffi Hoch and Cassie Haas with the victory.

The Hawkeyes again lost the doubles point. Senior Steffi Hoch and sophomore Gloria Okino fell to Ohio State's Sadhaf Pervez and Lindsay Williams at the No. 1 position (8-5), while juniors Cassie Haas and Deni Alexandrova were downed by Jackie Leskovar and Erica Fisk at No. 2 (8-4). Junior Jennifer Hodgman and freshman Chelsea Glynn topped the Buckeyes' Meaghan Colville and Lindsay Adams at the No. 3 spot (8-6).

Iowa stormed back to win four singles matches. Hoch dominated No. 46 ranked Pervez at the No. 1 spot (6-2, 6-1), while Haas downed Fisk at No. 2 (7-6 (3), 6-1). Okino topped Leskovar at No. 3 by a score of 6-3, 6-3. Glynn fell to Williams at No. 4 (6-2, 6-4), but Alexandrova dominated Emily DeCamilla at No. 5 to seal the team victory (6-1, 6-1). Hodgman fell in a three set match to Ohio State's Lindsay Bryan at the No. 6 position (6-2, 4-6, 6-3).

It appears that Iowa is gearing up at the right time. The Hawkeyes will next be in action when they travel to Champaign, IL, for the Big Ten Tournament. The tournament runs from Thursday, April 24 - Sunday, April 27, and will be held at the Atkins Tennis Center and the Illini Grove Courts.
