ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Iowa women's tennis team took five of seven singles matches at day two of the Wolverine Invitational on Saturday.

"We competed well in singles today," said head coach Katie Dougherty. "Playing a team like Florida that we did yesterday prepares you for anyone, and we stepped up this afternoon. We'll be looking for a better start in doubles tomorrow and continued progress in singles."

Junior Ruth Seaborne provided drama for the tournament when she rallied to beat Stephanie Vlad of Arizona State, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5, in today's final match. Trailing 5-2 in the third set, Seaborne fell behind 0-40 before fighting off three match points and rallying for the set victory. She then won the next four frames to earn the win and stay undefeated in singles play.

Freshman Annette Dohanics improved her singles record to 5-1 when she took a pair of decisions from Caroline Aleck of Western Michigan, 6-2, 6-2. The Hawkeyes also got straight set victories from junior Christina Harazin, sophomore Shelby Talcott and sophomore Katie Zordani. Harazin defeated Kelsey King of Western Michigan, 6-2, 6-1. Talcott topped Hanna James of Arizona State, 6-3, 6-3, and Zordani defeated Joanna Smith of Arizona State, 6-2, 6-3.

Talcott suffered her first loss of the season when she and doubles partner Seaborne fell, 8-2, to No. 30 Kate Fuller and Lauren Herring of Georgia. Hindmarsh and McCulloch pulled in Iowa's lone doubles victory Saturday. The duo defeated Jill Pastunink and Kelsey King of Western Michigan, 8-5.

The final day of the Wolverine Invitational begins tomorrow at 8 a.m. (ET).
