Meghan Armstrong Takes First In The Mile

Ames, Ia - Three members of the University of Iowa women's track team provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships during the Cyclone Classic, held in Ames. Friday, Diane Nukuri ran a provisional qualifying time in the 5,000 meters. Saturday, Tiffany Johnson provisionally qualified in the 60 meter hurdles. She finished in a tie with Jennifer Williams of Texas A&M for second place, they each had a time of 8.41. Meghan Armstrong took first place in the Mile with a provisional qualifying time of 4:44.55. Sophomore Renee White broke the school record in the triple jump with a leap of 41-05 ¾. The original record stood at 40-10 ¼ set by teammate Tiffany Johnson. White took fourth in the event. Senior Peaches Roach placed sixth in the high jump with a jump of 5-9 ¼, Roach has provisionally qualified in this event during a previous meet. The University of Iowa will host the Iowa Invitational on Friday in the University of Iowa Recreation Building. Competition will begin at 3:30 p.m.
