Four Qualify For NCAA Championships

The track and field team provisionally qualified two individuals in the 5,000 meters and one in the mile at the Husky Classic one in the 400 meters including a first and a second place finish at the Iowa State Classic, Saturday. "I think we had a very productive weekend at both meets." Head Coach Layne Anderson said. We are consistently good but we need to focus on being great. To reach our goals for the Big Ten Championships we need great performances." SEATTLE, WA - Senior Diane Nukuri placed second with a provisionally qualifying time of 16:10.71. She missed the automatic qualifying mark by 1.11 seconds. The time is also a career best for Nukuri. Sophomore Jolly Burke provisionally qualified with the seventh best time of 16:43.14. The time is her personal best by 17 seconds. Senior Meghan Armstrong provisionally qualified in the mile with a season best time of 4:41.07, just missing the automatic qualifying mark of 4:40.60. Armstrong took seventh in the race. AMES, IA - Senior Kineke Alexander provisionally qualified in the 400 meters with a winning time of 53.14. Following Alexander in the 400 meters was freshman Tiffany Hendricks who posted a career best mark of 58.00. Junior Renee White was runner-up in the triple jump with a leap of 40-11 ½. Sophomore Caleigh Bacchus and senior Tammilee Kerr each posted a height of 5-7. The height surpasses each of their previous bests by more than half an inch.
The University of Iowa will host the Iowa Invitational, Friday, with competition beginning at 5 p.m. HUSKY CLASSIC RESULTS
