Nukuri Is All-American

SACRAMENTO, CA - Junior distance runner Diane Nukuri earned all-America honors in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, CA, late Thursday night. She placed seventh in the event with a collegiate-best time of 33:30.29.Nukuri is Iowa's fifth all-American in the 10,000 meters, but is the first to earn the honor in that event since Jennifer Brower in 1992. She is also the first Hawkeye distance all-American since Tina Stec in the 3,000 meters in 1994. Nukuri earned all-America honors for the Hawkeyes at the 2006 NCAA Cross Country Championships and was a 17-time National Junior College all-American at Butler Community College from 2004-06. Four Hawkeyes are scheduled to compete at the NCAA Championships today. Seniors Adam Hamilton and Peaches Roach will make their final career appearances in the hammer throw (3:15 p.m.) and high jump (7:15 p.m.), respectively. Junior Tammilee Kerr will finish out the heptathlon, and junior Kineke Alexander will run in the 400-meter semifinals at 8:05 p.m. WOMEN'S 10,000 METERS RESULTS (Top Eight Placers)
