BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The University of Iowa volleyball team fell to Indiana, 3-0, tonight inside University Gym. The Hawkeyes started three freshmen and were rewarded with a career high six kills from Chante' Thompson and a team-best 11 digs from Bethany Yeager. Tiffany Nilges led the Iowa offense with eight kills. The junior also picked up 10 digs.

Thompson, starting for just the fourth time this season, hammered four kills in the opening frame. She teamed with Nilges to record back-to-back kills and give Iowa set one leads of 5-3 and 7-5 before Indiana put together a 5-1 run to grab a 10-8 advantage. Consecutive attack points from Megan Eskew would later cut Indiana's lead to 18-16, but the Hoosiers scored seven of the set's final 10 points to capture the 25-19 win.

Indiana opened the second set with an 8-1 run and eventually cruised to a 25-16 win. Paige Stevens tried to rally the Hawkeyes with a block and a pair of service aces to pull Iowa within seven, 15-8, but Indiana kept pace and finished the set with five straight points to grab a 2-0 match advantage.

The Hoosiers built a 3-0 lead in the third frame before kills from Eskew and Thompson and a pair of Hoosier errors helped Iowa stake a 4-3 lead. Indiana retook the lead with a 5-1 run before kills from Nilges, Eskew and Mallory Husz pulled Iowa within two, 10-8. Indiana would eventually extend its lead to 20-11 before Iowa battled back with a service ace from freshman Nikki Dailey and kills from Husz and Eskew. Stevens and Husz also teamed for a block to cut the Indiana lead to 20-16. The Hoosiers then scored five of the next six points to squash the Hawkeye rally and win the frame 25-17.

The Hawkeyes return to action Friday, Nov. 12 when they host Michigan State inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
