West Lafayette, IN - The University of Iowa volleyball team was swept at Purdue Friday night. The Hawkeyes fall to 9-17 overall and 1-14 in conference play.

Purdue took an early 9-3 lead in game one, forcing an Iowa timeout. The Hawkeyes responded later in the game with an 11-5 run, making the score 17-16 in favor of Purdue. The score remained within three points until the Hawkeyes eventually tied the game at 23. The Boilermakers put together a three-point run to take a 26-23 lead, but Iowa fought back later with a 5-0 surge to take its first lead at 29-28. A Schipper kill gave Iowa game point at 30-29, but two-straight Purdue points turned the tables, giving the Boilermakers game point at 31-30. Purdue then served a ball deep and out-of-bounds, tying the score at 31, but the Boilermakers managed two points to escape with the win.

The Boilermakers used a .387 hitting percentage compared to Iowa's -.146 percentage to win game two, 30-14.

Purdue stormed out to a 9-4 lead to start game two and stretched its advantage to 14-6, before three-straight Hawkeye points made the tally 14-9. That would be as close as Iowa could get, as the Boilermakers closed the game on a 13-5 surge to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
