IOWA CITY -Redshirt freshman Becky Walters, a native of Parkersburg, IA, will miss the rest of the season with a severe, season-ending knee injury. Head Coach Cindy Fredrick made the announcement today.

"Becky made a huge impact in the few weeks she was able to play," Fredrick said. "Her absence will be very noticeable. In light of this injury, we will need other players to step up and play bigger roles."

Walters, who suffered the injury in Iowa's match against Indiana on September 21, leads the Hawkeyes with a .265 attack percentage and is second on the team in kills (113), blocks (52) and blocks per game (1.21). She is expected to make a full recovery from the knee injury.

The Hawkeyes host No. 12 Minnesota Wednesday at 7 p.m. The match will be televised live on the Big Ten Network.
