IOWA CITY - Junior libero Emily Hiza has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic all-District second team. This is the first time Hiza has received the honor.

The Swink, CO, native leads the team and ranks sixth in the Big Ten with 422 digs (4.69 per game). She has started and played in all 25 matches and 90 games this season.

Hiza, who is majoring in marketing, was named academic all-Big Ten in 2006.

"This is a great honor for Emily," Head Coach Cindy Fredrick said. "This award is a great representation of the student-athletes in our program."

Hiza and the Hawkeyes travel to West Lafayette, IN, Friday to face Purdue at 6 p.m. (CST).
